Water Conservation Rebates

NOTE: Customers may apply for each of the rebates one time per fiscal year, which runs October 1st through September 30th. Customer rebates are limited to $600 per calendar year regardless of fiscal year.

Irrigation Efficiency Upgrade Rebate Program

The City of Georgetown is committed to helping our neighbors reduce overall water usage in Georgetown which can also save money on their water bills. For customers wishing to upgrade their irrigation system, we are offering several rebates.

These rebates help offset the cost of having a licensed irrigator upgrade your system to make it more efficient and use less water. Do-it-yourselfer’s may also qualify with proof of purchase for the new equipment.

We are currently offering three rebates that can be executed by either a licensed irrigator or a do-it-yourselfer.

  • Spray-to-Drip Whole-Zone Conversion
  • Multi-Stream Nozzle Whole-Zone Conversion
  • Smart/Weather-Based Controller Replacement- replace your existing controller with a Wi-Fi enabled, weather-based controller

Each rebate has a maximum value of $150. Not all homeowners will qualify for the full amount. For information on how to receive one or all of the rebates, click here.

Irrigation Check Up Rebate Program

During the spring and summer months, lawn watering accounts for as much as 80% of household water use.  Improperly set irrigation controllers waste water which leads to higher bills.

For customers with an underground irrigation system, we are offering a $75 rebate to help offset the cost of having their controller box inspected and set to Georgetown Utility Systems recommended specifications by a licensed irrigator. The licensed irrigator will properly set your controller and teach you how to maintain the proper settings in the future.

Knowing how to set your controller box properly, and knowing how to turn it off during times of heavy rains can save you money. Click here to learn more about programming your irrigation controller.

Licensed irrigators are certified by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.  To find a licensed irrigator in your area, you can go to their website: TCEQ Licensed Irrigators

Rebates are processed on a first come, first served basis and will continue until designated funding has been exhausted.  Please allow 3-4 weeks for processing.  Rebate will be processed as a credit on your water bill.  Incomplete rebate forms will not be processed and will be returned to the customer.

Rebates are limited to one rebate per service address per fiscal year. GUS fiscal year runs October 1 through September 30.

Rain Barrel Rebate (rainwater-harvesting)

Rainwater harvesting (RWH) is a great way to help the community understand the importance of water conservation, and the value of water. Rainwater is free and can augment limited groundwater and surface water supplies and is superior for landscape irrigation. Rainwater harvesting helps GUS reduce the summer demand peak and can help reduce your utility bills.

Georgetown Utility Systems (GUS) residential water customers may apply for a $25 rebate once per fiscal year for the purchase and installation of a new rain barrel. GUS fiscal year runs October 1 through September 30.
