Georgetown Utilities & Customer Care

Rebates and programs

The City encourages water conservation. We have enough water to serve our customers through 2043; however, if we all conserve, our water supply can last past 2050. During the summer, more than 75 percent of our treated water is used for lawn irrigation.

Rebates are processed on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available. Processing can take up to a month, and the rebate will appear as a credit on your water bill. Incomplete rebate forms will not be processed and will be returned.

If rebate(s) amount is more than $599 for the calendar year, rebate applicants must submit a W9 Form. When you apply for your rebate, you will receive an email with a link to the W9 form. Please check your email that you submitted with your application.

We are accepting applications for the 2024 fiscal year (services performed on or after Oct. 1, 2023).

Conservation Rebates

Digital Hose Water Timer
Digital Hose bib water timers will allow you to create watering schedules for your plants while saving water. Digital Water Timers can be set to run the hose at specific times and for specific durations. By programming your water hose, you can prevent overwatering and reduce evaporation by watering early in the mornings or at night. A backflow preventer is required in order to prevent contaminants from entering the water supply due to backward movement of water.

Install a digital hose bib water timer and receive up to a $25.00 rebate.

Pool Cover Rebate
While your pool is not in use, a pool cover is the most direct way to prevent water loss. These water-saving covers can prevent up to 95% of pool water evaporation and lower the cost of pool maintenance.

For customers with a filled pool, the pool cover rebate can cover the purchase of a qualifying pool cover up to $150.

Lawn Aeration and Compost Rebate
Help lower your water bill while beautifying your yard! Lawn aeration and compost can help create a healthier yard and reduce water runoff. Aerating your grass will also help with water and air absorption to build healthy, strong roots. Mulching prevents evaporation during the summer and will protect your roots from cold temperatures in the winter. Building soil depth can help yards thrive during high-temperature weather.

The City offers a rebate up to $100 to help offset the cost of having your lawn core aerated and composted.

Irrigation Efficiency Upgrade Rebates
We offer three rebates for upgrading your irrigation system’s efficiency. These upgrades can be completed yourself or by a licensed irrigator. These rebates include:

  • Spray-to-drip whole-zone conversion
  • Multi-stream nozzle whole-zone conversion
  • Smart controller replacement- replace your existing controller with a Wi-Fi enabled, weather-based controller

Each rebate has a maximum value of $599. Not all homeowners will qualify for the full amount.

Irrigation Check-up Rebate
Improperly set irrigation systems waste water which leads to high bills. If you have an underground irrigation system, the City offers a $75 rebate to help offset the cost of having your irrigation controller inspected by a licensed irrigator and set to our recommended specifications. You will also learn how to maintain those settings.

Knowing how to set your irrigation controller and turn it off during rainy seasons will save you money. Licensed irrigators are certified by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. To find a licensed irrigator in your area, click here.

Rain Barrel Rebate
Rainwater harvesting is a great way to augment limited water supplies and is perfect for landscape irrigation. Rainwater harvesting can help you reduce your utility bill.

Residential water customers may apply for a $25 rebate for the purchase and installation of a new rain barrel once per fiscal year (Oct. 1-Sept. 15).

Xeriscaping is the process of landscaping that reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental water from irrigation. Xeriscapes can reduce water by 60 percent or more compared to regular lawn landscapes. For customers with an irrigation system, we are offering a Xeriscape Conversion Rebate Program. The rebate covers the cost of conversion up to $599. This includes purchasing the materials for do-it-yourselfers or having a contractor provide the materials and do the work for you.
